Trump Refuses Housing Bill Signing, Demands Passage of SAVE Act First

US President Donald Trump unexpectedly pulled out of the signing ceremony of the “21st Century Road to Housing Act,” which is one of the most ambitious bipartisan bills intended to help solve America’s serious problem of housing unaffordability and shortage. In a statement through his social media account, the US president has made it clear that he would not sign the bill into law unless Congress enacts the “SAVE Act,” another restrictive law mandating voter ID and citizenship verification that doesn’t have sufficient legislative support to get enacted. The housing bill has already received overwhelming approval from Congress; therefore, the bill will be enacted automatically in ten days’ time if President Trump does not issue a formal veto.
